Corinne was introduced as the older daughter of Jessica Tate and Chester Tate of Dunn's River, Connecticut.

She had two siblings, Eunice (Jennifer Salt) and Billy (Jimmy Baio).  She was also one of the few who found favor with the family's cook/butler Benson. the others being her mother and Billy. She was notorious for having slept with many men. the family's cook-butler (Billy and her mother were the others).

Corinne was actually Jessica and Chester's adopted daughter. Her biological parents, Ingrid Svenson and Randolph Gatling, had been driven out of town by Corinne's maternal grandmother, who had disapproved of the relationship. She took the baby from the former housekeeper, fired her, and gave the newborn to Jessica, who named her Corinne. Ingrid and Randolph were exiled to Ecuador and not mentioned for many years.

As Corinne grew, she became even more promiscuous; it seemed she was after every man. Her first real relationship was with tennis pro (and her cousin by marriage) Peter Campbell (Robert Urich), who had a tendency to be randy with every woman he saw.......including her own mother, Jessica! Jessica did not like cheating with Peter, so she broke it off.

When Peter was killed, Corinne was initially charged with his murder, then Jessica was charged. This brought Ingrid back to town to torment the family: to ensure that Jessica would be convicted, Ingrid slept with the judge, showing how unscrupulous she was. Jessica was convicted at first, but then it was revealed that the pompous, snobbish Chester had killed him and intended to frame Jessica for it. Jessica's conviction was overturned.

Although Corinne thought she was in love with Peter, she was really in love with Father Tim Flotsky (Sal Viscuso), the Catholic priest of Dunn's River, who had been her childhood sweetheart. At first he wasn't in love with her, but he slowly fell in love with her; against his mother Flo's wishes, he left the priesthood and the couple married. But because he left the priesthood, Flo cursed their marriage--then promptly died on their wedding evening!

Corinne got pregnant and had a son named Timmy, who because of his late grandmother's curse was demon-possessed until his father and Jessica exorcised him successfully and he was a normal little boy.

After a failed relationship with Dutch Leitner, who left her to marry Eunice, Corinne finally left Dunn's River in 1980, with Timmy in tow. They moved to California to be in a saner environment and to start fresh far away from Dunn's River.
